Burutu, Delta State

An estuary site, with the port already concessioned

Burutu Local Government Area is on the western Niger Delta, on the Forcados river system. The hub uses the port concession and the industrial land behind it.

Akewa Colmar Terminals Limited holds the Burutu port concession and the Agge Deep Seaport. The sponsor reports more than 2,000 hectares of industrial backland. A certified survey, plan No. 2210/DT/128/2026 of 14 October 2026, covers 2,010.118 hectares at Angolo-Oba and Aghoro 2 along the Ramos River, in the name of Sahel-Don Projects Limited. The sponsor states that Sahel-Don is the same group as Akewa.

The hub needs about 1,000 hectares of that land. In the development case, about 250 hectares are the industrial park. The plants take the rest of the working area, including the utilities corridor and each plant’s own marine frontage.

LNG and methanol have to leave by water, so each plant is planned with its own jetty, permitted and built by that plant. They do not wait for a common-user port. That common-user company is not treated as an operating asset until the concession conditions are met, including written consent from the Nigerian Ports Authority. Berth concessions on the existing port are a separate transaction from the industrial hub.

A possible cargo link to the licensed Jos Inland Dry Port is part of the concept, so Burutu could be a southern outlet for northern goods. That link is not an executed agreement. The first intended land uses are a marine fabrication yard and a logistics yard. No lease is signed.
