Burutu Energy Hub

Integrated Energy & Logistics Platform.

A gas-fired power plant, modular LNG, a methanol plant and an industrial estate, co-located on the Burutu port concession so the assets share gas, power and the quay.

Why one platform

Stronger on one estuary than as four separate projects

Shared gas

One gathering system is planned to serve LNG, methanol and power, instead of three separate supply projects.

Captive power

The power plant is sized to feed the hub’s own plants and estate tenants before anything is exported.

Its own cargo

The plants and the first tenants are meant to give the port concession cargo of its own, in the way Onne and the LADOL yard did for their quays.

The strategic case

Integrated flow

From gas molecule to offtake

  1. 01

    Upstream feedstock

Phase 1 gas is planned from OML 109 (Ejulebe). A second phase draws on OMLs 43 and 45. Supply is at framework stage.

  2. 02

    Processing at the hub

Gas is gathered and processed on the industrial land behind the Burutu port concession, including modular LNG liquefaction.

  3. 03

    Power and liquids

A 250 MW first-stage plant serves the hub first. Methanol is a separate phase-1 plant of 1.0 MTPA.

  4. 04

    Offtake

Power for the hub and the grid, domestic gas and industrial use, and regional LNG and methanol export once contracts exist.
